An excellent buy for Special Club champagne in 2014, we were able to source a bit more of this after selling out at our original low pricing. 2014 is one of the top examples of Chiquet's Special Club of all time and one of the best Special Club bottlings this vintage. This beautiful bottle shows the brilliance of the special club category and is not to miss at this excellent low pricing.
The last few vintages of Special Club from Gaston Chiquet have been incredible, and 2014 is one of the best from this house of all time. The Chiquet Family has been in Champagne since 1746, and their radical ideology of growing, vinifying, and bottling their own wines was unheard of at the time. The wines here have always upheld the quality of their heritage, only modernizing the technique, and we love the style of the house. The 2014 Special Club here is a sensational effort from Chiquet and one of the best buys for 2014 Special Club is a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir from vineyards in the villages of Hautvillers, Dizy, and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. Chiquet specifically sources from parcels with chalky soils with some limestone for its excellent mineral content. Vinified in stainless steel and aged on the lees for 7 years, this has a dosage of 8 grams and is so beautifully balanced and precise that it's the perfect marriage. Galloni notes below that this is one of the best wines that he has ever tasted from Chiquet, and at this low pricing, it is a fantastic buy for Special Club Champagne.
Antonio Galloni 94 points! "The 2014 Brut Spécial Club is one of the best wines I have tasted from Chiquet. It captures all of the energy and vibrancy of the year, while showing tremendous textural presence and fine overall balance. Aging for more than seven years on the lees along with a touch of dosage worked beautifully here. Bright saline notes extend the finish. This is a gorgeous wine in every way. Disgorged: December, 2021."
Jeb Dunnuck (Audrey Frick) 93 pts! "Made from 70% Chardonnay and the rest Pinot Noir, the nose of the 2014 Champagne Special Club Brut is quite attractive, with ripe stone fruit (fresh apricot), pretty flowers, and a touch of honeycomb and marzipan. The palate is approachable and finessed and has the most elegance in the range. Drink over the next 15 or more years. (Drink between 2022 - 2037)
