We have a fantastic buy for Meursault Genevreires from the excellent 2014 vintage. Many might be familiar with the Hospices de Beaune wines, which are auctioned at the Hospices de Beaune. The Hospices de Beaune, established in 1443, is a charitable hospital institution that has been producing wines for over 500 years, with proceeds from the annual auction supporting the hospital's operations. Producers bid on the barrels to try to get a deal, which are then finished in the winner's cellar. In this case, Armand Vincenot did the elevage for this one, who is no stranger to the negociant style of winemaking and made a fantastic example of Genevrieres this vintage. The Cuvee Philippe le Bon pays hommage to Philippe le Bon Duke of Burgundy (1419- 1467). It is one of the finest white wines of the auction, and it is typically fiercely competed over. The vines for this wine are in the upper section of the vineyard (Dessus), with half planted in 1978 and 2001, with one smaller newer plot planted in 2009. This wine has been made by some of the best producers in Burgundy, and this is a fantastic example that contributes to the history of this cuvee.
