We love this wine and it seems that anytime Huet or Foreau give their Champagne method Vouvray’s long lees stays, they kick up several gears and put on the complexity of great Champagne with the varietal character and density of Chenin Blanc. Here’s a lovely version from Huet that is delicious today but as those keen on this cuvée know, it will go quite a ways in the cellar as well. The 2014 will match the 2009 with time and is a serious value for a sparkling wine with Champagne-like quality.
John Gilman 92 points! "The 2014 Domaine Huët Vouvray Pétillant is absolutely superb and offers up very good value in the world of sparkling wine prices. The bouquet is deep, pure and shows beautifully fruit tones of peach and quince to augment its fine base of chalky soil elements, spring flowers and an esthery topnote of bee pollen. On the palate the wine is crisp, full-bodied and complex, with a very good base of soil, a lovely core of fruit, pinpoint bubbles and lovely balance and grip on the long and classy finish. Fine juice"
