After tasting a bottle this weekend we are more enthusiastic than ever about this wine. One of the top 2014 Chablis premier crus of the vintage this is your last chance to buy this one at this great price!
The Lineage of Dauvissat lives through Jean and Sebastien Dauvissat, relatives of the famed Vincent Dauvissat. Although Jean has passed away his son Sebastien remains at the forefront of what his father layed out. J&S Dauvissat make great Chablis for the money, and the wine that always stands out the most is the Vaillon Vieilles Vignes. Sourced from a small parcel of Vaillon with vines dating back over 50 years, the Vaillons VV has a remarkable concentration of fruit and minerality. The quality of this wine is truly remarkable especially when considering the price point. 2014 is a stunning vintage for Chablis and is one of the best vintages of last 25 years. Jean et Sebastien’s Vaillon VV has an unbelievable purity and expression and can even rival Vincent Dauvissat bottling!
Burghound 91-93 Points! This is the first wine among these 2014s to display any appreciable wood with its dried orchard fruit, iodine and lemongrass suffused nose. There is outstanding concentration and punch to the powerful and palate coating flavors that deliver excellent length on the balanced finish that is shaped by a firm acid spine. This is clean, very dry and really quite serious. Patience required.
Tanzer 91-93 Points! Lemon and pineapple fruit aromas are complicated by a yeasty baked-bread quality and a hint of reduction. Sweeter and more pliant than the foregoing premier crus, offering a captivating combination of citrus zest, leesy complexity and salty minerality. This very rich, dense Chablis shows noteworthy finesse and finishes with a subtle balsamic quality.
