The 2014 is the latest release of the Grand vintage Form Jose Michel, and we have a shipment due to arrive next week. 2014 is another Fantastic effort for this Cuvee and has the potential to be the best example of the Grand Vintage ever.
The Grand Vintage from Jose Michel is one of the Best Buys in Champagne. As we mentioned in some of our previous Champagne offers, it is a challenge these days to find Champagne at this pricing, especially for vintage bottlings. However, since we work directly with Jose Michel, we are able to offer the only bottles available in the USA at this excellent number.
The Grand Vintage follows the same formula as the Special Club with a blend of 50% Pinot Meunier and 50% Chardonnay. These were just released after spending eight years aging on the lees. Floral and very precise on the nose with toasted almonds and stone fruit. The palate has a beautiful fruit from the excellent Pinot Meunier and shows just how skilled they are with the grape, with flashes of exoticism but so classic and restrained with an added elegance, richness, and energy from the Chardonnay. The Grand Vintage sees partial oak fermentation with a low dosage and is a magnificent vintage Champagne and one of the best buys in the category right now. A crowd-pleaser Champagne is perfect for a house pour and quite age-worthy, with some great notes on some older bottles from Champagne expert Richard Juhlin.
