We have had many surprises with the '14 vintage in Champagne in what was not the most ideal year, but those who managed to weather the storm, quite literally, have made some fantastic Champagnes. Paul Bara did very well in 2014 as one of the top and most recognized Champagne producers in Bouzy, located in the Montagne de Reims, strutting their exceptional Pinot Noir annually. The Grand Milesime is only produced when quality is outstanding and indicates their success in 2014. The Brut Milesime is a Pinot Noir dominant blend of 90%, with the remaining devoted to Chardonnay. This crowd-pleasing style is still exciting for the sophisticated bubble lovers out there, showing excellent balance, complexity, a profound fruit profile, and minerality. A fantastic buy for the 2014 vintage, the Brut Milesime has been a tremendous bottle over the years, and after being on the market for a while, it is still the current release and showing beautifully with the extra time it has spent in the bottle. A pleasure to drink and another great selection for the holidays, the 2014 Paul Bara is an exceptional not-to-miss Champagne.
Antonio Galloni 92 points! "Candied apricot, dried flowers, chamomile and spice give the 2014 Brut Grand Millésime a real sense of exoticism that is impossible to miss. Ample and creamy, the 2014 possesses terrific resonance and plenty of depth, all in a style that can be enjoyed with minimal, if any, cellaring. Disgorged: July, 2019."
