John Gilman 94 points! "The 2014 Vergelesses is a great bottle of Savigny in the making, as we have once again switched sides of the valley and are back on the Pernand side of the village. This is an utterly classic example in the making (and the 1972 Domaine Bize les Vergelesses remains to this day the most hauntingly beautiful and complex bottle of mature Savigny I have ever had the pleasure to taste, so I have great confidence just how stunning the 2014 will be in due course!), as it soars from the glass in a vibrant blend of black cherries, sweet dark berries, a complex base of minerality, currant leaf, espresso and a topnote of woodsmoke. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very complex, with impeccable focus and grip, ripe tannins and a nice sense of reserve on the very long, tangy and mineral finish. A great bottle in the making and probably one of the great bargains of the vintage!"
