We have another outstanding value from Charles Noellat, this time featuring the Village of Nuits St. Georges. The estate was founded by Charles Noellat in the late 19th century in the village of Vosne-Romanée. Today, the estate is run by the current generation of the Noellat family, who continue to produce some of the finest values in Burgundy, offering a unique combination of quality and affordability. 2015 is an exceptional vintage for Burgundy, and this is an excellent example from the premier cru Damodes which is one of the most northerly located vineyards of Nuit St. Georges, right on the border of Vosne-Romanee sharing an edge with Boudots and Cras. If you crossed the border from Damodes to Vosne, you would end up in Malconsorts. It is a fantastic location, and because of this transitional terroir, the wines here have some Vosne-Romanee influence and shows a beautiful combination of dark fruit, such as black cherry, blackberry, and cassis, as well as hints of spice, such as clove, cinnamon, and black pepper while displaying excellent structure and somewhat firm tannins but lovely acids and a streak of Vosne-like elegance. 2015 is considered one of the greatest of the 2010s, this is a fine buy and the best value for 2015 Damodes and another top-value buy from Charles Noellat, and with a bit of time in the bottle, this is starting to show very well.
