A lovely late-release Bordeaux from Chateau de Fieuzal, while not the first Chateau that comes to mind when thinking Pessac-Leognan, the wines here are ever better and great buys Bordeaux. This 85-hectare estate is located in Graves, famous for its heavy gravel soils; here, the vines are sustainably farmed, emphasizing biodiversity, with flowers, plants, and wildlife surrounding the various plots. The vines here are 30 years old on average, with a final blend for 2015 coming to 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. Fermentation takes place in a mixture of concrete and stainless steel to preserve the freshness and aromatic expression, with the perfect amount of French Oak in the form of giant vats to bring more complexity and roundness. 2015 is a great Bordeaux and is one of the top vintages for Chateau de Fieuzal of all time. It is in a great place for enjoyment and should continue to supply great drinking over the next decade.
Wine Enthusiast Cellar Selection (Roger Voss) 95 points! "Ripe and spicy, this is a smoothly textured wine Its wood aging and creamy texture are rich, opulent, and generous With tangy acidity in the background, this dense wine is already impressive Drink from 2022.
James Suckling 94 points! "Blackberry and plums sit amid violets, earthy notes and gentle, hazelnut oak. The palate delivers attractively smooth, supple tannins that carry long flavors of fresh dark cherries. Try from 2020."
