We expected this to be good, but not this good. Larruau is an incredible Bordeaux value if there ever was one located walking distance from Rauzan Segla and shares a border with vineyards from first growth Chateau Margaux, very prime real estate. Once the site of a classified growth, it now offers the best value in the region. There is not much from Margaux at this pricing, and yet this is no slouch, it is a serious bottle of Bordeaux. We tried this over two days, and it was solid from start to finish. Excellent depth with cassis, bramble, violets, minerals, game, and tar on the back. This is a lush yet elegant wine with excellent fruit and structure on the palate and a tremendously juicy and delicious finish amplified from the lively acidity. This is in a beautiful spot to consume now, and compared to other Margaux's at three times the price, this stands up very well and is one of Bordeaux's greatest gems.
