Here is another great deal from tardy that is rare in the US from a lovely red Burgundy vintage. This the Agrillas is a unique vineyard as it is the very last vineyard of Nuits St. George before the commune turns into Vosne-Romanee and, as a result, draws a bit of influence from both sides. It's one of the top cuvees and is drinking rather well, but some extra time in the bottle will not hurt this wine. This is a bottle that goes for close to $150 dollars at times, but at this special pricing, it is an excellent buy for those that want a classic Burgundy with a bit of age on it.
Wine Advocate (Neil Martin) 92+ points! "The 2015 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Aux Argillats has a lovely oyster shell tinged bouquet with joyous black cherry and bilberry aromas. I appreciate the precision of this Nuits Saint-Georges, hints of violets emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a touch of orange sorbet infusing the dark cherry fruit with a saline touch on the finish. Keeping its cards close to its chest, I suspect it will offer much more with two or three years in bottle."
Allen Meadows 90 points! "A mildly toasty and softly reduced nose needs a through aeration so I would suggest decanting it first. Otherwise there is excellent density and punch to the brooding, intense and muscular flavors that exude evident minerality onto the presently linear, rustic and moderately austere finish where a touch of tar arises. As the description suggest, this is somewhat youthfully awkward and will require a few years to better harmonize but the underlying material appears to be sufficiently good that this should ultimately come together."
