2015 Larmandier-Bernier Champagne Grand Cru Les Chemins d'Avize

$129.99
2015 Larmandier-Bernier Champagne Grand Cru Les Chemins d'Avize
Typically one of the show stoppers from Larmandier-Bernier, we have excellent pricing on this new release, and 2015 has incredible potential and is one of the best renditions of the Chemins d'Avize from Larmandier Bernier. This is one of the most impressive grower cuvees cuvees year after year. With eight generations of experience, Larmandier-Bernier has the understanding to truly unlock the potential of their unique sites with remarkable consistency. Based in the heart of the Cote des Blancs, since 1992, Larmandier-Bernier's vines have all been cultivated biodynamically and mainly planted to Chardonnay, averaging 35 years old.
Les Chemins d'Avize' comes from 2 plots in Avize from lieu dits known as "Chemin de Plivot" and "Chemin de Flavigny". The soils here are rich in chalk (Larmandier-Bernier cellars are also dug out of pure chalk), imbuing the grapes with intense minerality, and the vines from these plots are older than the House average, sitting at 50+ years old. This Cuvee is 100% Chardonnay, typically made with more mature grapes, allowing for a bit more hang time complexity and allowing a lower dosage of 2 grams. Chemins d'Avize shows mineral a floral concentration with precision and sophistication that is dream-like and seemingly bottomless. The 2015 vintage for Champagne is outstanding, with Chardonnay showing excellent freshness, ripeness, acidity, and richness with the trademark savory touch that many Champagnes from this year show, thanks to a warm growing season. Since Larmandier-Bernier likes to have riper fruit for this cuvee, the weather would have played right into the style of the Chemins d'Avize and with smaller yields that were rich and concentrated with excellent fruit intensity. This has massive potential, and while there are no scores yet, this is a very promising vintage for the Larmandier-Bernier and the Les Chemins d'Avize.
