Such an amazing value for Blanc de Blancs Champagne the 2015 here is sensational, and we have a few cases still on the way. A proper Cote de Blancs house, the Blanc de Blancs here is a staple and incredibly classic this vintage, with captivating fruit, excellent minerality, and a dynamic between richness and vibrant acidity. A steal at this pricing, and certainly one of the best buys of the vintage for Blanc de Blancs.
One that we can only ever get a few cases of each year, like RL Legras, Legras & Haas, is based out of the beautiful Cote de Blancs village of Chouilly. We, as well as our clients, have been impressed with the wines from Legras & Haas over the years, and they are one of the few stops that offer grand cru quality at such reasonable pricing. Founded by Francois Legras, who has rarely left the village of Chouilly since 1937 and was raised with a passion for vines and Champagne bestowed by his father. Francois is a true Chouilly original and, still to this day, spends his mornings inspecting the vines but is assisted by his sons.
The Blanc de Blancs Millesime is an important wine for Legras & Haas, sourcing from some of the best fruit the House and only made in vintages that the family deems worthy and is a Champagne built upon structure and promising aging potential. The Legras & Haas team constantly looks for a mark of originality that sets the vintage apart and a youthful austerity to coincide with its aging capability. 2015 is a fantastic and distinct vintage great for Chardonnay. Incredibly fresh with excellent ripeness, acidity, and richness with the trademark savory touch that many Champagnes from this year show. This is a nuanced and complex blanc de Blancs, and the House says it builds even more complexity and will do so for another ten years. An excellent buy for Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, this is one of the few on this level available at this pricing, with most comparable examples going for $100+. On top of all of that, this recently received a massive 97 at the Decanter Awards! We have the only bottles of this vintage available in the USA right now, and if you like Blanc de Blancs, this is the one to buy.
Decanter Wine World Awards, Platinum, 97 points! "Indulgent and classic aromas of golden apple, ripe peaches, figs, golden pears and nuances of nuts, toasted bread and praline. Mineral and elegant on the palate, with an oily texture and complex nutty finish."
