This is a fantastic Brunello; we just opened this a few hours ago, and it was singing from the first drop. While still a young bottle, this has excellent potential, and in the glass, it evolves by the minute. There is a bit of youthful bacon fat on the nose that quickly blows off as it reveals notes of burnt cherry, blood orange, and wild herbs, developing a lovely rose petal perfume and some underlying soil tones as time goes on. The palate has excellent focus and an outstanding balance between richness and acidity here with quite a bit of intensity and a long delicious finish. Most will prefer this over the old vine bottling, which is more modern in profile as it sees much more new oak. This is one of the best Brunello's we have tasted in the past few months and is worth a look and a big pay off if cellar-ed for a few years.
