2016 Chateau Boutisse (Saint Emilion) Grand Cru$29.99
This is an incredible Bordeaux value from the excellent 2016 vintage. The Milhade family purchased this property in 1996, and over these twenty years have made some great improvements in the vineyard and cellar. Winemaker Marc Milhade has fashioned his best effort to date with the 20016 vintages. This wine is comprised of 88% Merlot 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1 % Carmenere. This vineyard is situated on the plateau of Saint Emilion, which is pure limestone with several feet of clay-loam soil. This combination produces powerful wines with incredible aromatics, complexity, and finesse. Drinkable now, this wine will age effortlessly over the next decade and is an incredible value compared to other Bordeaux of this quality. The sample I tasted over several days seemed to get better and better. If you are looking for a bottle of Bordeaux that is incredible but that you can drink every day, you need not look any further for this wine is for you!
Antonio Galloni 93+ The 2016 Boutisse is magnificent. Striking aromatics and veins of saline minerality frame this absolutely exquisite, nuanced Saint-Émilion. Blood orange, mint, sage and floral notes add myriad shades of nuance to the red-toned fruit in a Saint-Émilion that pulses with energy and vibrancy. There is so much to like here. Alain Raynaud consults. Tasted two times. (Drink between 2021-2036)
