Camus-Bouchon is probably our favorite address in Savigny-les-Beaune. We have tasted at the Domaine numerous times and have always appreciated how classic yet refined the wines are for such a rustic terroir. These are wines that have incredible structure and can be very surprising with some cellar time. 2016 as John notes below, was an absurdly small crop with 50% losses in the vineyard, but the wine is gorgeous and concentrated with aromas of red cherry, cranberry, earth, spice, and underbrush. Impressive on the palate with premier cru depth, complexity, and persistence with some structure that needs to resolving on the long, lively finish. The 2016 Grands Liards is an incredible Burgundy buy in today's market from one of the top producers in Savigny-les-Beaune.
John Gilman 92+ points! "The old vines in Grands Liards were also down fifty percent in 2016, but like the Pimentiers, they have turned out a very, very strong example of the vintage. The wine offers up a lovely bouquet of black raspberries, cherries, bitter chocolate, a fine base of minerality and a topnote of Savigny spices. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very pure on the attack, with excellent complexity, a fine core, ripe tannins and very impressive backend mineral drive on the long, poised and balanced finish."
