We have been selling the wines from Gary Farrell for years now an iconic winery in the Sonoma. Their 2016 Russian River selection Pinot Noir is a beauty! Sourced from the following vineyards: Hallberg, Rochioli, Toboni, Martaella, Floodgate, Hop Klin, Nonella, Pratt-Lakeview. The wine is fermented in open top tanks with a small percentage of the fruit being whole cluster. The wine sees about 35% new oak from medium toast barrels. The wine aromas are captivating with classic Russian River Pinot Noir notes of red cherry, raspberry preserves, tea, cola, and white pepper. The palate is generous with good depth and focus with the red fruits dominating but accompanied by forest floor, and mushroom notes. Typically, a $45 plus bottle of Pinot Noir we are working pseudo directly thus offering it at this great price!
Wine Enthusiast (Virginie Boone) 93 points! "From a blend of iconic sites, like Rochioli, Hallberg and Martaella, this opens with thick, dense and concentrated tones of dried cherry and cola before unleashing a wealth of white pepper and black tea. It finds a balance between the fruit and the forest elements on the midpalate, finishing in silky brilliance."
James Suckling 94 poits! "A stunning Russian River Valley pinot noir that’s earthy and smoky with beet and herbal notes. This is ripe yet beautifully balanced. The precisely crafted tannin structure gives the wine positive warmth and a complex, lingering finish. Drink or hold."
