We discovered the wines from Gilles Barge a couple of years ago when we stumbled into his tasting room by accident. We had never had the wines at that point and were blown away how well made they were and how they showcased the vineyards they were sourced from. The 2016 vintage is a great one for Cote Rotie, and Barge's Cote Rotie Le Combard is one of the best he has produced to date of this wine. Even with the nice press he has been receiving, his prices have remained stable, and he is still under the radar. This wine is a terrific example of classic Cote Rotie. Don't miss it!
2016 Domaine Barge Cote Rotie Le Combard $59.99 Joe Czerwinski 94-96 points! Barge's 2016 Cote Rotie le Combard is one of the stars of the vintage, delivering violets and herbal tea on the nose, black cherry fruit on the palate, and a kaleidoscopic blend of them all on the finish. It's medium to full-bodied, supple and creamy in texture and, simply put, a must-purchase for lovers of Côte Rôtie.
