We have a fantastic buy for Meursault Genevreires with a bit of age today. This wine originates from the annual Hospices de Beaune charity auction, an event dating back to 1859, where barrels of wine produced by the Hospices' vineyards are auctioned to raise funds for operations and maintenance of the Hospices' historical sites. Purchased at auction, this wine underwent élevage at Domaine Joseph Drouhin, who is no stranger to the wines of Meursault, known for their meticulous biodynamic practices and restrained, terroir-driven style. The challenging 2016 vintage, marked by frost and low yields, produced concentrated wines with vibrant acidity and mineral depth, traits that the Cuvée Baudot exemplifies through Drouhin's careful élevage, highlighting its precise, balanced profile. The vines for this wine are in the upper section of the Genevrières (Dessus), with half planted in 1978 and 2001 and one smaller newer plot planted in 2009. This is a beautiful example, available for significantly less than the Domaine bottling of Genevrieres at Drouhin. Showing very well now, with plenty of life left, this is a rare find, and we currently have the only bottles available in the USA.
