2016 Jean Marc Boillot Pommard 1er Les Jarollieres$59.99
This wine is a hidden jewel of Jean-Marc Boillot's holdings. It is sourced from a ½ hectare plot of 70-year-old vines grown in clay and limestone soil. This wine has been one of my favorites over the years, and it seems to marry perfectly with Jean-Marc Boillot wine-making style. The 2016 vintage was minuscule in this vineyard, and Jean-Marc only produced about 1/3 of the usual crop. The resulting wine is heroic, and it's one of his best versions of this wine he has made to date. Jean-Marc has backed off on the new oak with this wine as well, only using about 25%, which helps showcase the beautiful fruit of the vineyard. This wine will be approachable young but should age for a couple of decades or more. An adorable bottle and expression of the vineyard at USA low pricing!
