2016 Marc Colin et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Vide Bourse

$189.99
2016 Marc Colin et Fils Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Vide Bourse

We were able to get a bit more of these two excellent late releases from Marc Colin today after selling out. Marc Colin created this estate in the 70s with his wife through holdings inherited by his family, the now-famous Colin's. Many of the vineyards he was granted had been in the family's possession for over a century, and like all of the Collins, they specialize in White Burgundy as natives of Chassagne Montrachet. Though the vineyards have been split up among many family members, they continue to do the Colin name justice. Today, Marc's children, Damien and Caroline, run the estate, which currently covers 12 hectares over 26 appellations. The brother-and-sister duo practices Lutte Raisonee and is experimenting with organic practices in some vineyards. Both these wiens are in great condition and are showing very well now after nearly 10 years of age. These are rare finds and great buys for the vintage, and these are the same price as the new releases but much more ready to drink. We only have a case of each available, so act quickly!

Jasper Morris MW (Inside Burgundy) 93 points! "Glowing primrose colour with quite a rich, juicy nose, good quality fruit with balanced ripeness. Massive weight on the palate though the fruit is full on yellow, even with a pineapple touch. The richness of the fruit almost swamps the acidity. Plenty of wine here and it should kick on well. DIAM 30 closure. Tasted: May 2019."

Burghound 92 points! "Like several wines in the range, there is a whiff of exoticism to the white peach, lychee nut and rosemary oil-suffused nose. There is first-rate concentration to the broad-shouldered and lavishly proportioned flavors that possess a succulent mouth feel on the impressively complex and persistent finish. Like the Champs Gain, this is a bit finer than usual despite the excellent richness."
