This looks to be the best version of this bottle ever. From the oldest vines around the Castello Nipozzano, it's aged in oak barrels for 24 months before being released. The 2015 vintage as you know was exceptional for Tuscany, and this looks to be the best version ever of this wine. The Nipozzano Riserva is a blend of Sangiovese with small amounts of Malvasia nera, Colorino, Canaiolo. Would pair well with fowl, veal, or venison.
Some great press below too, and at an Incredible price!
James Suckling 94 pts! What a pretty interplay between blackcurrants, boysenberries, spices, cedar and pine cones. Full-bodied but ever so delicate with a finely woven texture of taut tannins, running through layers of finely tuned blue and red fruit. Long and elegant on the finish. Best ever? Delicious now but better in 2021.
Wine Advocate (Monica Larner) 93 pts! A mid-weight Tuscan red with a fresh approach, the 2015 Chianti Rufina Riserva Nipozzano Vecchie Viti trots out lots of dark blackberry and cherry. Enjoy the Sangiovese earthiness and its notes of rose hip and pressed flower. With fruit sourced from old vines, this expression delivers an extra level of density, thickness and extraction. The sunny and warm conditions of the vintage have added to the volume and fleshy texture of the mouthfeel.
