Michel is part of the legacy of the Gros family, some of the most successful winemakers to venture off from the main family domaine including AF Gros, Anne Gros, and Gros Frere. Michel is the 6th generation of the Gros family and is noted for having the premier cru Monopole 'Clos Reas' in Vosne Romanee, his other Vosne cru Aux Brulees is arguably a better wine with the vineyard located in a fantastic position next to Echezeaux, Richebourg, and Les Suchots. Michel Gros Aux Brulee is a great value where other producers like Meo Camuzet bottlings are going for well over 600 dollars. A Very Solid Premier cru that shows the typicity of the vineyard very well and is surly worth checking out.
Allen Meadows 90-93 points! "A restrained and beautifully spicy nose offers up notes of purple fruit, violet, anise and a hint of wood toast. There is good muscle, punch and power to the middle weight plus flavors that exude a fine bead of minerality on the beautifully persistent finish. This is a blend of power and refinement though at least some patience will be necessary."
