2016 Talenti Brunello 375ml

$27.99
2016 Talenti Brunello 375ml
We were able to acquire a few more cases of this rare find from one of Montalcino's more underground addresses. Half bottles of these wines are a great way to check-in without opening a whole bottle and should eventually prove for slightly earlier drinking—a great buy in this not to miss vintage. See our original offer below.
One of the best buys for Brunello, Talenti tends to fly more under the radar than some of its compatriots but has been an address we have followed for years. Even with gaining popularity, these wines are still a value for the region and too easy in this small format. The 2016s here are beautifully balanced, elegant, and precise. It is an excellent vintage for the region and should be a bottle that will last for the long haul but possibly approached sooner in half-bottle. A Fantastic buy for old world red wine and those that bought the '16 Altesino 375s; it would be fun to compare the two side by side now and down the road. These are currently the only half bottles of Brunello from Talenti in the USA, and they won't last long, so don't miss the chance to grab a few!
Wine Advocate (Monica Larner) 94+ points! "The Talenti 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is a balanced and symmetrical wine with bright red cherry on the one hand and pretty spice and balsam herb on the other. The wine pours from the bottle with dark color saturation and ruby highlights. It shows no signs of fading, and that bright color intensity is a common thread in this vintage. There is a good amount of Sangiovese acidity that reinforces the lifted and buoyant style achieved here. It ages in both tonneau and botte for 30 months. Production is 35,000 bottles."

Vinous (Eric Guido) 94 points! "The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino boasts a striking display of balsamic-tinged cherry and autumnal spice with a twist of sour citrus really appealing to the senses. It’s silky and pliant with a gorgeous display of ripe red and hints of black fruit. There’s a sweet and sour element here that I find quite attractive, as the 2016 gains a tactile feel toward the close through a mix of brisk acids and rounded tannins. The length and classic structure on the finish completes the expression, leaving dark florals and mineral earth tones. Talenti remains one of the best values in age-worthy Brunello in the market. That said, it’s also worth checking in on a bottle early to enjoy all of its primary intensity"
