017 was not an easy vintage in Piedmonte, and conditions were almost the complete opposite of 2016. Hail and frost were met with heat surges, devastating a large percentage of the crop. As a result, many producers struggled, but Parusso weathered the storm and came out with some sensational wines. 2017 also marks the 50th anniversary of this estate, so in celebration, they created the Perarmando, which, as Galloni notes below, is a blend of 50% Bussia, 30% Mosconi, and 20% Mariondino. Bussia is Parusso's top vineyard and usually goes for $80+, and in 2016, which is a stunning vintage, Galloni Gave the Barolo Bussia the same score as this bottle of Perarmando. If that's not evidence of this being fantastic buy at half the price of Bussia proper, we don't know what is. The 2017 Perarmando is stunning, not a wine to miss, and is also one of Galloni's wines of the vintage. We have the only bottles currently available in the USA, and if you only buy one bottle of 2017 Barolo, this should be the one.

Sweet rose petal, mint, sage and red berry nuances lift from the glass. A touch of whole clusters add character without overpowering the wine's balance, which is magnificent. This is such a glorious Barolo and one of the wines of the vintage."
