2017 Buisson Charles Meursault 1er Cru Bouches Cheres

$119.99
2017 Buisson Charles Meursault 1er Cru Bouches Cheres
A small Domaine located in Meursault, Buisson-Charles is the work of husband and wife Patrick Essa and Catherine Buisson. They are the next generation to work the 6.3 hectares of Buisson family vines. Over the last few years, Buisson-Charles has been updating their cellars and fermentation room refining their vinification and aging processes to be as true to the terroir as possible. A natural approach where Chemicals are never used in the vineyard is supported by regular labor like tilling and plowing. Buisson-Charles' main vineyards are in Meursault, where they have four hectares spread over the village and Cru level. Bouches-Cheres is a fantastic premier cru that extends towards Poruzot and Genevrieres. Its steep and stony limestone soils mark the wine with a character reminiscent of Geneveries or the lower part Chevalier-Montrachet. It is one of the Domaine's most delicate and subtle wines, and the vines here we planted in 1954 to a very dense 11,000 vines per hectare. The grapes are hand-harvested and sorted before pressing and vinifying in 228-liter oak barrels, 20% of which is new. The Buisson-Charles puts the old vineyard name on the label 'Bouches-Cheres' and produces only 2,000 bottles a year and is never fined or filtered. This is a late release for this Cuvee, and we have the only bottles currently available in the USA, which is a fantastic buy for Premier Cru Meursault.
Allen Meadows 93 points! "Airy if restrained aromas reluctantly offer up notes of citrus and spicy floral scents. The lilting and refined medium-bodied flavors also exude a subtle minerality on the sneaky long, balanced and gorgeously complex finale. As the best example of Bouchères always are, this is a wine of finesse and understatement but one that is also built to reward extended keeping. Lovely."
