We have a few cases left of this beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon that isn't just an excellent buy for Cabernet but one of the best values for red wine. The Innovant is the complete package, with outstanding balance, a fantastic sense of place, moderate alcohol levels, and restrained oak use, making for a wine of remarkable harmony. Drinkable now, you could cellar this for up to a decade, compete, and beat some California Cabernets at $100+ level. After this, there won't be any more, so grab one while it is still available.
The best Cabernet Sauvignon deal of 2021 we have found thus far, Capture Winery is rebranding and closing out some of their past vintages. These have been incredible deals, and we have has tremendous success with two other Capture closeouts last year. The Innovant was originally a 60 dollar bottle from the Winery and is a Bordeaux style blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with 6% Merlot added, all sourced from the Alden Park Vineyard in Alexander Valley. With its classic Cabernet Profile and French influence, this is an elegant and complex Cabernet Sauvignon that outperforms bottles three times the price. While the 2017 Innovant has lovely dark berry fruit, it isn't the only focus and also has impressive soil expression and savory notes that add to the beauty of this bottle. The Innovant is drinking exceptionally well now and should continue to evolve over the next ten years with ease. Both the domestic and European palate can find something to love here the Innovant is one to back up the truck for because nothing in the category beats it at this pricing.
Jeb Dunnuck 95 points! "Checking in as 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Merlot all from the Alden Park Vineyard in the Alexander Valley, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Innovant saw an extended maceration and aging in 40% new French oak. It has a terrific nose of blue and black fruits as well as classic Cabernet tobacco, bay leaf, violets, graphite, and crushed rock-like minerality. Rich and concentrated on the palate, yet light on its feet and elegant, this thrillingly pure Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon will evolve for 15-20 years or more. I continue to love these wines from Sam Teakle. Across the board, the wines show terrific purity of fruit, plenty of richness and texture, and balanced, elegant profiles."
