2017 Cordero di Montezemolo Monfalletto Eta -12-22-2021

$45.99
2017 Cordero di Montezemolo Monfalletto Eta -12-22-2021

The Cordero di Montezemolo family moved from Spain to La Morra in the 1400s and, to this day, maintains the Monfalletto estate that was founded centuries ago by the Faletti family between 1830-1840. The family exchanged holdings in the irrigated fertile plain for the vineyard Monaletto, which is still considered their prized possession. This historic vineyard is located in the Annunziata hamlet of La Morra and is organically farmed with vines reaching upwards of 50 years old. This site is precious because they own the entire vineyard, making it a larger continual plot rather than micro plots scattered throughout. This helps capture the essence of the vineyard, vintage, and is one of the keys to this Barolos success over the years. 2017 is a fantastic vintage for Codero, and this Barolo is a prime example of their commitment to classic wine at reasonable pricing.

James Suckling 97 pts! "This shows a lot of tar and roses with dried strawberries as well. Full-bodied with very, very fine tannins that coat your mouth, yet they are so velvety and set up the overall, focused and pure-fruit impression of the wine. Fantastic young Barolo. From organically grown grapes. Better in 2026, when the tannins will be more resolved."
