The 'House Cuvee' so to speak of of Domain Baudry is one of the low-key highlights of his lineup. This is still very much a classic Chinon but grown on different soil like all of his cuvees, this one being a limestone plateau mixed with gravel. This an early drinking Chinon and while not as wound as some of his other wines this is fits perfectly into a category equal to something like a Cote du Rhone would. Fresh, with pleasant fruit and the peppery notes and acidity that Cabernet Franc is known for. For those interested this was listed as wine #44 in the WineSpectators top 100 this year. Like the majority of Baudry wines these are very tightly allocated so get your order in as soon as possible because these won’t stay around long.
