This large Domaine in Meursault was always an excellent buy for the money in the past. But with new owners and a large cash infusion a few years back, they began making world-class white Burgundies. The new owners replaced the old wine-making equipment, cut yields in half, and started farming sustainably. We have had great success from past vintages of this wine, and this Cuvee was a stand out when we tried it a few years back, winning best in show for the appellation from Decanter in 2018. The 2017 vintage of this wine is one of the best wines they ever made, and while they are on to the 2019s now, it is nice to get a bottle with some extra age. This is an under-the-radar buy and one of the last great '17 crus on the market at reasonable pricing. We were able to get some nice quantity here, so this could be one to stock the cellar with and enjoyed over the next decade.
Decanter 97 points! [Decanter World Wine Awards Best In Show] "Generosity is intrinsic to the promise of Meursault, but the village's best wines always manage to express this with subtlety, freshness and an overall sappiness and vitality which means that great examples are never overweight or obvious. This Best In Show Charmes is a copybook example of just how engaging a combination that can be, with its fragrant drift of sweet lime subtly amplified by restrained oak, it offers poised and restrained palate wealth. It's teasingly gratifying now, but may well be even better with a few cellar years under its belt. Drink 2019-2028"
