Domaine Gaunoux has been a producer we have been following since the beginning of Envoyer, developing a close relationship with the family and working directly with the Domaine. Every time we visit Burgundy, we always are excited to see the Gaunoux's and taste through their line up which usually includes a back vintage gem that has been stowed away for a few decades. We have had many vintages of Gaunoux's Beaune Cuvee, which mainly comes from village vines but sees a decent percentage declassified premier cru fruit for a quality increase. It's an incredible buy and a wine that can age very well, with vintages like '07 being a top seller in the past with excellent client feedback. The 2017s from Gaunoux are gorgeous, classic, and the Beaune is always a go-to for those that love traditional Red Burgundy coming highly recommended. We have the only bottles of the 2017 Beaune available in the USA, coming directly from the Domaine.
Tasting note by Allen Meadows, "A spicy essence of various red berries, plum and discreet earth introduces equally energetic middle weight flavors that are beguilingly delicious, all wrapped in an attractively textured finish that is just firm enough to suggest 5 to 8 years of upside development potential."
