For five generations, Duplessis has been workings in Chablis and now under Lilian's authority, who took over for his father, Gerard, in 1999. This Small 8 Hectare domain is entirely organic and biodynamic, and the Montmains comes from two parcels planted on clay and limestone. The Montmains starts in stainless and finishes in oak barrels after six months and is one of the domains most age-worthy and powerful cuvees. A very pure Chablis that shows the vineyard's unique characteristics and is made in a traditional unmarked style making for one of the best price-quality wines in Chablis.
Decanter (Tim Atkin) 94 points! "This small biodynamic domaine is achieving impressive things under fifth-generation winemaker, Lilian Duplessis. Split between the Montmains and Forêts lieux-dits, this is pithy, tight and focussed with lots of dry extract and a dusting of oak."
Vinous (Neil Martin) 91-93 points! "The 2017 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru has a crisp and taut, slightly austere bouquet that takes time to get warmed up in the glass, retaining those classic flint and smoke aromas. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a fine bead of acidity, touches of orange rind and dried apricot with a gentle, caressing finish that seems to just "wash over" the senses."
