Joseph Drouhin Beaune Clos de Mouches Blanc has always been a EFW favorite. This vineyard has been bio-dynamically farmed for over 20 years, and has the ability to age quite well. We have had several older examples that have showed extremely well. This wine possesses wonderful power, and elegance that of the best white Burgundies!
Decanter (Tim Atkin) 95 points! There aren't many vineyards in Beaune that make world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the Clos des Mouches is definitely one of them. This effortlessly stylish white from chalky soils on the southern side of Beaune, close to Pommard, is intense, textured and well balanced. It has scented 30% new wood, vivid minerality, citrus and patisserie notes and a long, refreshing finish. (Drink between 2020-2027)
Jancis Robinson (Julia Harding MW) 18.5 points! Cask sample, likely to be bottled December or January. As Véronique Drouhin rightly noted, As Véronique Drouhin rightly noted, complex aroma: creamy, mealy, pure-fruited. Rich but with a fine dusty restraint. Deep and spicy on the palate, fills the mouth with pure citrus fruit and goes on for ever with a lovely depth of texture from the lees. (JH) (Drink between 2022-2037)
