Here is another lovely 2017 White Burgundy that is just starting to enter its drinking window. We were able to get a few cases of this beautiful back-vintage from Louis Jadot, whose consistent winemaking is one of the impressive feats in Burgundy, considering the massive scale they work on. As we have said many times before, the 2017 White Burgundy's are classic with an excellent balance of ripeness and acidity. Jadot's Meursault Perriers is sourced from the upper part of the vineyard, which is part of the Lieu dits Perrières Dessus displaying incredible minerality from the thin topsoils and heavy limestone. The 2017 is a beautiful mineral-driven white Burgundy that is just starting to drink very well and should continue to develop over the next ten years. We have an excellent price here with some of the only bottles available in the USA. Make sure to check out the nice notes below.
Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 92-94 points! "The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières (Domaine Louis Jadot) offers up aromas of ripe citrus fruits, white flowers and crushed chalk, framed by smoky new oak. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, tensile and stony, with excellent depth at the core, juicy acids and a long finish."
Allen Meadows 91-93 points! "A pure, restrained and markedly cool nose reluctantly reveals notes of mineral reduction, spice and plenty of floral influence, in particular acacia and lavender. The slightly more sophisticated middle weight flavors brim with minerality on the focused, intense and driving finish. This beauty is firm but not really austere and should drink well after only 5-ish years though it will probably require most of a decade to arrive at its apogee."
