2017 Saumaize- Michelin Pouilly Fuisse Vignes Blanches$33.99
I have been a fan of the Saumaize-Michelin Pouilly Fuisses for years being introduced to them in the late '90s by the importer. One could say twenty years ago, these wines were good, but not nearly on the level of the fabulous Cote de Beaune whites. Today I don’t think that is the case anymore. The 2017 Saumaize-Michelin Pouilly-Fuisse Vignes Blanches is fantastic with an incredible sense of place coupled with yellow fruits, great minerality, incredible tension, and balance. All for $33.99, you would likely have to pay five times the price to get that thrill from a top premier cru white Burgundy. The 2017 Vignes Blanches is terrific and a must-buy for the European and Domestic Chardonnay lovers alike!
Neal Martin 93 pts! The 2017 Pouilly-Fuissé Vignes Blanches has a very seductive, generous bouquet of precise, intense white peach and white chocolate aromas. The taut, linear palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and a vibrant, energetic finish that shimmers with nervosité. What’s not to like here? Nothing. (Drink between 2020-2032)
