The newest Cuvee to be created by Trimbach, the Reisling Selection VV, saw its first appearance in 2009 and has been made almost every year since then. However, Trimbach will only produce this in vintages where there are quality grapes across the board. The vines for this cuvee are on average 50 years old and come from the Trimbach's vineyards in Ribeauvillé where they source the bulk of their production. The grapes are left on the vine as long as possible to achieve optimal ripeness and is fermented dry in stainless steel and aged in the bottle for a few years before release. This is a fantastic example of Trimbachs elegant crystal clear style and their version of a Grosses Gewachs, though it doesn't come from a single site but is at times on par with the Cuvee Frederic Emilie. These are currently the only bottles of 2017 available in the USA, and as noted below, this wine won the second spot on Wine Enthusiast's top 100 wines of 2020 list.
Wine Enthusiast (Anne Krebeihl) 96 points, Wine Enthusiast #2 Wine of 2020 "Initial smoky notes of reduction make way for a pervasive, subtle but luminous lemon freshness on the nose of this wine. The palate shows exquisite concentration in lemon freshness. It's bone dry, vivid and fresh. Drink until 2045."
