(Chablis “les Preuses”- Domaine Vincent Dauvissat) There was just a touch of frost damage in the domaine’s holdings in les Preuses in 2017, so the yields here were down by ten percent. The wine is brilliant, offering up a deep and enormously complex nose of grapefruit, tart pear, green apple, a kaleidoscopic base of chalky and oyster shell minerality, orange peel, a whisper of vanillin oak and an exotic, savory topnote that is redolent of fresh tarragon! On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, racy and absolutely rock solid at the core, with great detail and complexity. The finish is very, very long, youthfully reserved and vibrant, with laser-like focus and great grip. A magical les Preuses in the making, but give it some time in the cellar to really blossom. Vinous Neal Martin 95-97 Points!
(Domaine Vincent Dauvissat Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru White) The 2017 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru, of which there are 13 barrels this year, has a very pure and refined bouquet that offers gunflint, and steely scents that are almost Zen-like for this particular Grand Cru. The palate is beautifully balanced with a fine line of acidity, subtle notes of nutmeg and brown spices underneath a carapace of mineral-rich citrus fruit that fan out in sophisticated fashion on the finish. Brilliant. (Drink between 2027-2050)
