2017 Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Rangen de Thann Clos St. Urbain

By Stephen Brook
Alsace importer tastings SB, 2/18/2020, (See more on Decanter...)94 points

(Domaine Zind-Humbrecht, Rangen Clos St Urbain Pinot Gris, Alsace, France, White) This great site lies in southern Alsace on complex volcanic soils; the mxaimum yield here is 50mhl/ha. The nose is opulent and exotic but not overbearing. Broad and fleshy on the palate, it's rounded and perhaps a touch soft. Essentially dry, it displays extract and spice and a trace of bitterness that's not offputting. A wine of great volume it also has a very long finish. (Drink between 2020-2036)
