One of the stars of the vintage, the 2018 Cornas VV is an excellent bottle from one of the top traditional winemakers of the region. Recently making it to #18 on Jeb Dunnuck's list of top 100 wines of 2020, the VV is the sweet spot for this Domaine. This is a Northen Rhone wine not to miss and one of the best buys for Cornas in the '18 vintage. We have a few cases left at this special low pricing, so don't miss it!
One of our favorite addresses in Cornas, Voge, produces outstanding wines from this challenging terroir. One of the top producers in Cornas alongside greats like Clape, the VV is sourced from 60+year-old vines certified organic and biodynamic. The VV sees 20% whole cluster fermentation in 228-liter barrels, of which 15% are new. Voge did very well in 2018 with an impressive lineup, and the flagship Les Vieilles Vignes is leading the way with a little more depth and power than '17. A fantastic Cornas from one of the top addresses in the region that still have reasonable pricing.
Jeb Dunnuck 98 points! "Moving to the 2018 Cornas Les Vieilles Vignes, this beauty is cut from the same cloth as the Les Chailles yet is deeper and richer, with another level of concentration. Black and blue fruits, ground pepper, violets, smoked game, and loads of spring flower notes define the bouquet, and it has a vibrant, almost old school vibe that carries plenty of power yet still stays light and elegant on the palate. This beautiful, singular wine is open and enjoyable today, yet I wouldn't be surprised to see it close down with a year or two of bottle age. It should see its 20th birthday in fine form."
