2018 Arnot Roberts Chardonnay Watson Ranch

$39.99
2018 Arnot Roberts Chardonnay Watson Ranch

We had an incredible visit with Nathan Roberts, one of the owners of Arnot Roberts winery in Sonoma this week. This was our second time we have visited their facility that is tucked away in an industrial complex on the outskirts of Healdsburg. Their winery is nothing fancy, but the wines they produce are heroic. We have offered the two Chardonnays they produce over the last few vintages, and we are happy to report the 2018's we just tasted here though young have fantastic potential. Arnot Roberts buys most of their fruit via long term contracts, and the vineyards they source the fruit from at a minimum are farmed sustainably. Their philosophy is to showcase the vineyard sites where the grapes are sourced from. To do this, they tend to pick on the earlier side (Chardonnays are in the low 12% alcohol range) are very gentle with the wine-making process, employ indigenous yeasts, and only use older oak barrels. The result is classic mineral driver Chardonnays with tons of dry extract, complexity, focus, length, and that age incredibly well.

s reminiscent of the Blanchot vineyard.  This is a potentially incredible bottle and showcases the height California Chardonnay can achieve in capable hands.
