2018 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir Beaux Frères Vineyard

$109.99
2018 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir Beaux Frères Vineyard
Oregon is a hub for some of the most exciting French-inspired producers of Pinot Noir, and we have a fantastic effort from one of our favorite addresses in Oregon, Beaux Freres. Practicing a hands-off approach to winemaking that would fit right in at a domine in Burgundy, Beaux Freres is adamant about using wild yeast for fermentation and giving it its proper time to slowly develop in the barrel to produce a more complex and exciting wine. The Beaux Freres Vineyard is the soul of the production here. Located in Ribbon Ridge, 2018 is the 28th iteration of this Cuvee, and it is gorgeous, ranking among the best examples of this wine of all time and making its way to Wine Spectator's list of top 10 wines of 2022. The quintessential wine of Beaux Freres shows this terroir-driven wine's poise, sophistication, and structure once again with excellent promise for successful cellaring. The 2018 has just been released, and it has it all this vintage and is a serious Oregon Pinot Noir that the Domestic and European palate would love.

Jeb Dunnuck 96 points! "Layered with red cherry candy, the 2018 Pinot Noir The Beaux Freres Vineyard unfolds with crushed roses, cedar, and five-spice. The palate has wonderful concentration and energy, with cranberry, tea leaf, and spice. This is an incredible wine that delivers balance and purity. Drink 2024-2036. (Aug 2022)"

James Suckling 96 points! "This is a trademark, deeply rich impression with an unctuous, violet-flower layer, together with blueberries, cherries and sweetly toasty woody spices, as well as forest wood and fresh, leafy and sappy nuances. The palate has a very succulent, fresh and lithe, almost tangy feel, delivering such succulent, mouthwatering energy at the finish. Ready now, but better from 2024. (1/30/20)"

Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 2020 (#9) 95 points! "A wine of presence and expression, impeccably structured yet elegantly layered, with evocative raspberry, rose petal and brown baking spice notes that pick up richness and tension toward fine-grained tannins. Drink now through 2029. (6/30/20)"

Vinous (Josh Raynolds) 95 points! "Brilliant ruby. Intense red and blue fruit, floral and spice qualities on the highly perfumed nose, along with hints of cola and licorice. Juicy and precise, offering concentrated raspberry, boysenberry and floral pastille flavors that take on a five-spice-powder nuance with air. Plays power off delicacy with a sure hand and finishes extremely long and silky, with polished tannins framing lingering red fruit and candied rose notes. 45% new oak. Drink: 2023-2031. (Aug 2020)"

Wine Advocate (Erin Brooks) 94+ points! "The medium ruby-purple colored 2018 Pinot Noir The Beaux Frères Vineyard opens to lush rhubarb, cranberries and loamy earth with layers of blood orange, tea leaves, charcuterie and flowers. The medium-bodied palate offers broody, concentrated fruits with fine earth and spice accents, with a seamless, silky frame and lifted finish. Drink: 2021-2028. (Dec 2020)"
