Now that we have tasted several 2018 Beaujolais, its a very nice vintage. The wines have good ripeness, yet covey their vineyard character perfectly. This Clos de la Roilette Fleurie Cuvee Tardive is a show stopper, and the BEST BUY of the vintage. Don't miss it!
Our Original offer:
The bounty of the 2018 vintage was larger then the previous 5 years ,and the resulting fruit was quite beautiful. The vintage trademark will be vineyard driven, elegant/lacy wines. Roilette's vines are on the cusp of Fleurie and Moulin-a-Vent making for a unique terrior composition. The vines used for the Cuvee Tardive are around 80 years old. This cuvee is designed to be drank later and is made with the potential of ageing in mind. It’s a versatile wine that can certainly be drank upon arrival but the real pleasure here is opening one after a few years of age. For a bottle this serious at this amazing price point it’s one of the few rare gems left in the region.
Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 95 points! Coudert's brilliant 2018 Fleurie Cuvée Tardive offers up a deep and incipiently complex bouquet featuring raspberries, mulberries, rose petals, violets and cracked black pepper. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and layered, with an abundance of rich and powdery structuring tannins, ripe but lively acids and a long, lingering finish. While this is built for the long haul—its name alluding to the aging potential of this old-vine cuvée, not to a later harvest—its enveloping profile and perfectly mature phenolics will make it unusually approachable in its youth.
