Cotat has always set our bar for the Mont Damnes, but we recently have found a new addition. A family Domaine located in Chavignol since the 17th century, the Delaporte really started to gain recognition when Vincent Delaporte's grandson, Matthieu Delaporte, took over in 2010. Matthieu immediately began focusing on transforming the vineyards to organic and, more recently, is working on becoming fully biodynamic. Matthieu purchased vines in this pretegious vineyard that are now 45-50 years old. This is an impressively complex wine with a beautiful floral aroma of acacia and honeysuckle that goes into a more savory component of beeswax, with citrus and intense minerality. The palate is pure, precise, and focused with fantastic acidity, excellent texture, and a very long mineral finish. This is catching up to the Cotat's very fast, and as Matthieu continues to dial the work in the vineyard as he switches to biodynamics, we only expect the wines to get better. A fantastic Sauvignon Blanc, Deleporte is a Domaine to keep an eye on.
