2018 Domaine Harmand-Geoffroy Gevrey-Chambertin 375ML

$29.99

John Gilman  The 2018 Gevrey AC was not yet completely assembled at the time of my visit, so my note is only on an approximation of the final blend. As I mentioned, this is the ripest wine in the cellar this year, coming in at 14.5 percent octane, but carrying its alcohol pretty well. The bouquet is a very sappy blend of black raspberries, chocolate, hung game, dark soil tones and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full, powerful and sappy at the core, with ripe, firm tannins and good length and grip on the fruit-driven finish. This is not bad at all in its idiom, but it is a bit of an outlier chez Harmand this year. (Drink between 2024 - 2050)

Burghound Deep ruby color. Pungent and very Gevrey aromas include those of black cherry, raspberry, the sauvage and plenty of freshly turned earth that are trimmed in subtle wood influence. The rich, mouth coating and solidly concentrated flavors exhibit good power on the rustic, slightly warm and sneaky long finish. A robust villages. (Drink starting 2026)
