2018 Domaine Louis Boillot et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin

$49.99
2018 Domaine Louis Boillot et Fils Gevrey-Chambertin
Our offer of the 2019 yesterday sold out very quickly, but we were able to get some 2018 for those that missed out. The 2018 Gevrey Chambertin AC from Boillot is another top deal for Gevrey, and we have low pricing on this lovely back vintage. The wines from Louis Boillot can be very good, and with the help of his wife, Ghislaine Barthod, Boillot is one of Burgundy's top small producers. The wines here have never been better, and the two both reside in Chambolle-Musigny, where they share a cellar. Louis Boillot is always a producer to look for when it comes to classic wines, and the 2018s here are fantastic and on par with 2019 for one of the best examples of all time. This wine comes from 50+-year-old vines from several plots around the village, including some declassified fruit at times from Clos Prieur and Lavaux St. Jacques, giving it a fantastic expression of the entire village in any given vintage. With a few years in the bottle, this is starting to show very well and is more approachable than the 2019s. We have a limited amount at this low pricing, which comes highly recommended for those looking for another excellent burgundy deal.

John Gilman 91 points! "As fine as the 2018 Chambolle villages may be chez Boillot, the Gevrey AC may be just a shade finer! The refined nose delivers scents of red and black cherries, grilled meats, mustard seed, black minerality, woodsmoke and a bit of cedar. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, long and again, beautifully sappy at the core, with fine-grained tannins, excellent focus and grip and a long, tangy and very well-balanced finish. Fine juice."
