Here is a follow up to our recent Guillemot offers, this time featuring Les Gravins. As we have said before, Guillemot ranks as one of our favorite Savigny addresses, using eight generations of experience to produce classic Burgundies. The 2018s from Guillemot have been sensational, and this is another excellent effort from the vintage. This vineyard is located right next to Savigny's other great premier crus, including Lavieres and Serpentieres. It has the Guillemot signature of impressive terroir expression with the classic Savigny minerality, softened by a refined and elegant style. While the vines here are on the younger side, with time, this could be even better than the Serpentieres and is the wine to drink earlier while the Serpent sleeps in the cellar. There aren't many premier crus left in Burgundy that are this reasonably priced anymore, and this isn't usually a producer we were able to get much of in the past. Still, we have some of the only bottles available in the USA right now, so don't miss the chance to grab a few.
Wine Advocate (William Kelley) 91-93+ points! "The 2018 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Gravains opens in the glass with notes of ripe cherries, berries and spices. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated with a rich chassis of tannin. Guillemot observes that it's a little chewier than usual, due to a recent racking, so I'll be revisiting it in bottle."
