We were able to try a bottle of this recently, and it was our top pick out of a group of 10 white wines, including some other great bottles from VS Morey. La Truffiere is Vincent and Sophie Morey's only cru from Puligny-Montrachet from family vines planted in 1951 and 1986. A rare bottling only making it to the US in limited quantities, Truffiere is one of the domaines standouts. This is incredibly mineral-driven and is a picture-perfect display of mineral intensity in white burgundy dominating the nose and accompanied by, honeysuckle, bosc pear, wild fennel, and bee pollen. The palate has such a graceful attack, so elegant with surgeon-like attention to detail and perfect balance, which is very apparent on the dense limestone finish. A textbook Truffiere, with its refined energy and mineral character, we can't recommend this enough for those who enjoy terroir-driven wines. The 2018 Truffiere has all the material to only get better with age, and I can't wait to try a bottle a few years down the road. This is one to try now and then bury away, which is exactly what I plan on doing.
