This vineyard is a super high-density one, just like the chardonnay. They vinify several blocks of clones separately and only keep the best barrels from the estate bottling. The wine is not racked after malolactic fermentation is finished and is not fined or filtered. The result is quite amazing, and it is one of the best examples I have tasted from this classic vintage. The wine sees only free-run juice, and coaxing gives up aromas of blue and red fruits, game, underbrush, minerals, and red flowers. The palate has gorgeous red and blue fruits with excellent tension, depth, and balance with a peacock's tail of s finish. A tour de force with a European flair and a must-buy from the new or old work Pinot Noir lover!
Wine Advocate (Erin Brooks) 96 points! "The 2018 Pinot Noir Estate Vineyard comes from Swan and Calera clones planted in 2004 at a high vine density (3,630 vines per acre). Medium ruby-purple, it's richly scented of warm cranberry sauce, black cherries, tea leaves, tobacco and earth with floral notes. Medium-bodied, it floods the mouth with dark, earth-laced fruits cut through with bright red berry and citrusy pops. It has a firm, finely grained frame and addicting juiciness, finishing very long. Wow!"
