2018 Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga Fontalloro 375ml

$33.99
2018 Fattoria di Fèlsina Berardenga Fontalloro 375ml
Fontalloro is the measuring stick for Felsina's Sangiovese program and is a wine that is as harmonious as it is profound. We have the fantastic 2018 vintage, which is a fantastic example of this classic cuvee. Fontalloro is sourced from vineyards between Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi. The two areas have different soil types; stony and calcareous near Chanti Classico while silty and sandy by Chianti Colli Senesi. These diverse soil types create complexity in the wine, distinct minerality, and abundant fruit. We have a few cases of the 2018 arriving next week in rare half bottles, a format we always have clients asking about, and this is a fantastic candidate for this smaller size. We have low pricing on these half bottles, which are due to arrive next week, and it is a fantastic little bottle from one of Tuscany's best addresses.

Antonio Galloni 95 points! "The 2018 Fontalloro is bright, floral and full of energy. In most vintages, Fontalloro is quite open, but the 2018 is especially nervy and taut. That won't be an issue in time, of course, but readers should plan on being patient. Sangiovese is so expressive here. A whole range of floral and savory accents lingers on the close."

James Suckling 95 points! "A tight, fresh Fontalloro with dark cherry, chocolate and toasted oak. Some walnut, too. It’s full-bodied, yet polished and structured. Sort of shy. But this will develop really nicely with some bottle age. Drink after 2023."
