2018 Jose Dhondt Champagne Grand Cru Mes Vieilles Vignes Blanc de Blancs 1.5L

$99.99
2018 Jose Dhondt Champagne Grand Cru Mes Vieilles Vignes Blanc de Blancs 1.5L
A client and a personal favorite for the incredible value it holds, we were able to source some of the excellent 2018 here in Magnum. Jose Dhondt's Mes Vieilles Vignes vines are from a small parcel in Oger that Jose Dhondt has converted to sustainable farming practices, with the vines being around 60 years old. The hard work has been worth it, and the Champagnes here have been incredible values over the years, with pricing kept low by a lack of importation to the USA. Dhondt is a superstar Champagne grower who seeks to outdo himself every vintage, and the Mes Vielle Vignes is the top bottle here. We've had this next to Taittinger a few times, and it held its own very well at a fraction of the price. With Tete de Cuvee depth and soil-driven characteristics from the older vines growing on limestone soil, Dhondt's Mes VV always has an intense lingering finish with dry extract and mineral notes that always draw us back. It is a fantastic buy for grower Champagne and drinking tremendously now but will continue to age in Magnum with a bit more freshness over the regular bottling. This is a rare opportunity to grab a magnum of Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs at unheard-of pricing, and right now, these are the only bottles available in the USA.
